Official says Audit Chamber to check govt coronavirus steps later

MOSCOW, Mar 19 (PRIME) -- The government needs freedom of action to fend off the coronavirus, while the Audit Chamber will check all decisions in this respect later, head of the authority Alexei Kudrin told reporters on Thursday.

"The government needs speed, of course, the authority, because this is an unprecedented crisis connected with the coronavirus. That is why the fallout is hard to assess. And the government has to have the authority, it will be controlled later, we will study all the decisions afterwards," Kudrin said.

The State Duma, parliament's lower chamber, will consider on Thursday a bill aimed at allowing the government to raise the reserve fund through redistribution of the money to finance anti-virus measures.
